Christmas Came Early: Presents from Kelowna, BC

My brother, Jones, visited Kelowna and brought back a lot of presents!

* Stewart/Alexandro came back! Funny story behind the naming of this stuffed animal...

* Jones and I wanted to adopt this rabbit, Stewart, from an elderly couple...but our plans fell through

* A big box of fresh peaches

* Close-up of a peach. It was very juicy!

* Haha, a Kinder Surprise toy. Rawr!

* Starting from the bottom left (counter clockwise): Smoked cheddar cheese with salmon (from Vernon, BC), unpasteurized honey with ginger, peppermint lip balms, bag of walnuts, apple cider, white wine, rose wine, and ice wine.

* Wines!

Little Straw Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Review
The Little Straw Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc (Limited 2009 Vintage) label saids...

Nestled at the foot of an extinct volcano, our vineyard is home to some of the oldest vines plants in the Okanagan Valley. The colcanic soils and micro-climate allow for complete ripeness and expression of varietal character in the creation of this fine handcrafted wine.

The wine was delish! We paired the white wine with seafood (i.e. jumbo shrimp) and it was the perfect combination. The wine had sweet citrusy tang and classic grassy flavours.   The only con about the wine is that I couldn't taste the "melon flavours". Nevertheless, the drink was very smooth (12% alc.) and memorable.

I am Supergirl

...really I am!

So I finally got around to watching Scott Pilgram vs. the World. It was a fun and geeky movie. I checked out their site and created my avatar. You should do it too; build your very own Scott Pilgram avatar.  Yes, I'm a sucker for these kinds of site... Check out my Simpson avatar from 2007!

Haha, sadly I have changed much since 2007. I'm still a nerd. =(

This Is Madness!

Photo 1.  Nova Scotia candy from Meagan K.

My good buddy, Justin, and I had an entertaining dialogue today about scheduling madness...I was telling him about my good ol' block week course that will kick off my lovely Fall semester in the Social Work program. Instead of me blabbing about it, here's our dialogue:

* Justin: 13 week course condensed into in 1 week?
* Me: Essentially.
* Justin: Who came up with that idea?
* Me: The people upstairs.
* Justin: That means you need to take at least 2 quizzes a day, the reading-week will essentially become reading hour, midterm after the 3rd day, and final exam on the 7th day, and margarita party on the 8th day?
* Justin: Geesh, and I thought New Yorkers live a fast life.
* Me: Welcome to my life.

Here's a snapshot of my "big" schedule for these coming months.
